A Weekend in Venice

Thinking of spending a weekend in Venice? Read on for some suggestions on how to have a great time in this beautiful city.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay then I can’t rate Guest House Ca’ dell’Angelo enough. The location is perfect (you are literally a 2 minute walk from St Mark’s Square) and the staff are amazing and so helpful!

I’d recommend getting a water bus pass as it is so convenient and literally like a hop on hop off bus on water, it’s 20 euros for 24hours or 30 euros for 48 hours and let’s you see so much. It is also a great way to start your trip by getting one from the airport in to the centre of Venice.

Venice is an expensive place but worth it. Head to St Mark’s Square and take in the atmosphere and live music at one of the many restaurants, then you’re just round the corner from Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs.

Hop on the water bus at San Marco to Lido, a small island where you’ll find a beach and plenty of restaurants to stop off at for a well deserved Bellini.

Jump back on the water bus and head to Burano, one of the most instagramable little places I’ve ever seen. Be careful as the water taxi only departs from here every hour and in high season the queues to get back on it are big!

Head back to San Marco enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants by the Grand Canal, the views are amazing and the setting is so relaxed.

Take your time to stroll through Venice and soak up just how beautiful a city it is.

Take a walk over to the Rialto Bridge and enjoy the view, then grab an ice cream and stroll up the Grand Canal.

Venice has so many little snack bars and cute restaurants that you’ll be spoilt for choice. Rossopomodoro is a good one with bites to eat ranging from spinach and ricotta pastry’s to cheese and tomato calzones.

I don’t think my trip to Venice would have been complete without taking a Gondola ride. As expensive as it may be (80 euros per ride) it was great experience and I would actually recommend it.

St Mark’s Square is buzzing at night and again the many restaurants on offer provide great drinks, good music and the views not bad either!
